Spent Sunday with Q Manning and a whole bunch of other camera operators and students at the Austin School of Film and Dub Lab music video shoot for the local Austin band, Ringo Deathstarr. Dub Lab (located in LA) is all about taking bands out of their normal environment and putting them somewhere foreign and capturing the performance on video. Today, Ringo Deathstarr played off 7th and Shady Ln in Austin in the middle of a weird rock cluster hole thing surrounded by foliage. I don’t know how to describe it better, honestly.
The great thing about today’s shoot was there were a whole gaggle of students there learning and contributing to the process. Austin School of Film and Dub Lab are hosting an event at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz tonight (Monday) at 10:35pm. The event is described as:
“This matinee has transcended the afternoon and traveled into the night. Leave your body behind and join us for rarely seen music videos, new dublab VisionVersion films, comedy clips, out-there animation and other eye melting magic. This special evening will include a discussion with the curators Frosty & Morpho plus dublab djs playing far out soundtrack selections. Don’t miss these visions burning bright!!!”
Get your tickets here!
And keep your eyes peeled in the next couple weeks for the video to go live!
